Church Activities and Publications
 
  Ferdie Deering taught a men's Bible study class at Trinity Baptist Church and Nichols Hills Baptist Church (Renamed Quail Springs Baptist) for nearly 30 years. He also wrote some articles for the Baptist Messenger and other Christian publications.  Some editorials and articles he wrote for The Oklahoman were reprinted in these publications as well.

Illustrations
 
  Ferdie Deering had an interest in making illustrations.  Although it was never a part of his job to draw, he did so in his early days with the newspaper when an illustration was needed.  As you can see by the examples below, he did pretty well.
