COUNTY ORGANIZED: 1921

COUNTY NAMED FOR: John G. Kenedy, son of the founder of the King Ranch.

COUNTY SEATS: One - Sarita.

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: Sarita Kenedy, the daughter of King Ranch founder John G. Kenedy.

COURTHOUSES: One - 1917.  Sarita initially served as the county seat for Willacy County and this courthouse was built for that purpose.  After Kenedy County was organized in 1921, Ramondville become county seat for Willacy County and Sarita became county seat for Kenedy County. 

STANDING: One -1917 Texas Renaissance courthouse that has been altered over the years.  However, the building was renovated and restored to it's original appearance in 2010.
