COUNTY ORGANIZED: 1907 from Osage County, Oklahoma Territory.

COUNTY NAMED FOR: 
The Osage Indians.

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: Osage Indian Chief Paw-Hiu-Skah, whose name means "white hair."

COURTHOUSES:
The county used rented space until the 1912 courthouse was completed. 

STANDING:
 1912 courthouse situated on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Pawhuska.
