COUNTY ORGANIZED: 1907

COUNTY NAMED FOR: 
The Muskogee or Creek Indians.

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: The same as the county.

COURTHOUSES: In 1907, the County Courthouse was established on the third floor of the Homestead Building, which had been used as a Federal Courthouse prior to statehood.  A new courthouse was completed in 1928. 

STANDING:
 1928 Courthouse with Neoclassical and Renaissance Revival elements.  An addition has extended one end of the building.
