COUNTY NAMED FOR: 
A prominent early-day family of which Charles D. Carter was the best-known member.

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

COURTHOUSES: The county first used a former federal courthouse before buillding the current courthouse in 1910.
