COUNTY NAMED FOR: Junius William Mottley, who died in the battle of San Jacinto (a spelling error was made when the county was named).

COUNTY SEATS: One - Matador

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: The Matador Ranch

COURTHOUSES: Three - 1891, 1904, and 1948.  The 1904 building was destroyed by fire in 1944.

STANDING: One - 1948 Modern courthouse built of brick.
