COUNTY NAMED FOR: Atascosa is Spanish for an impediment to travel, such as bog, mud, etc

COUNTY SEATS: Four- Navatosca, Amphion, Pleasanton, and Jourdanton

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR:  Jourdan Campbell, a local land promoter.

COURTHOUSES: Three - Pleasanton in 1858 and 1885; Jourdanton in 1912.

STANDING: One -1912 Mission-style courthouse with Spanish tiled roof and balconies.
