COUNTY ORGANIZED: 1907 from protions from the Chickasaw Nation and Oklahoma Territory.

COUNTY NAMED FOR: 
Henry W. Grady (1851-1889), editor of the Atlanta Constitution.

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: The Chickasaw Indians. Chickasha is the correct spelling but the pronunciation of the word is incorrect.

COURTHOUSES:
A former Federal Courthouse that was completed in 1896 was initially leased in 1907 and then purchased in 1914.  The current courthouse was completed in 1934.
