COUNTY ORGANIZED: Denver is a consolidated city and county.  Arapahoe County was formed in 1861 and Denver served as the Arapahoe County Seat from 1861 until consolidation in 1902.
COUNTY NAMED FOR:  Kansas Territorial Governor James W. Denver. 

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: Same as the County.

STANDING: 1932 consolidated county courthouse and city hall.
