COUNTY ORGANIZED: 1907 from a portion of Comanche County, Oklahoma Territory.

COUNTY NAMED FOR: 
Benjamin W. Tillman of South Carolina.

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR:  Frederick VanBlarcom, son of railroad developer J. C. VanBlarcom.

COURTHOUSES:
The county rented space until the courthouse was completed in 1921. 

STANDING:
